Maybe I found it amusing because titanic terrapins is a kind of oxymoron, since terrapins are tiny turtles - so TTs is a bit like giant dwarfs - and terrapins are intrinsically funny (according to Bill Oddie).

@ Bruce - The oxymoron aspect ties in surprisingly well with the theme of the song: hubris/catastrophes. So many people today are convinced they are giants when they are little more than dwarfs (especially without God). Sadly, catastrophe is almost guaranteed.
