I stumbled across this old photo my wife took of me back in 2002 when we called Budapest home. Though I uploaded this image to both my Amazon and Goodreads pages years ago, I had more or less forgotten about it, and I had a good chuckle when I saw it again the other day. I am thirty-one years old in this photo; even though I would not begin writing The City of Earthly Desire for another eight or nine years, I am fairly certain my inspiration for the novel began during this time.
