Trees and Triads, courtesy of a gentleman who goes by the name, Laeth.

A few short samples of his aphorisms:

we need to find new ways of expressing eternal truths. the old ways, good as they were, will now get you censored, excommunicated, fired, imprisoned or even killed. there has never been such an artistic challenge in all of history. may we rise to the occasion.

contrary to both popular and conspiratorial belief, the Lord of the Rings is neither fiction nor about the ancient past. it was a prophecy about the future. a future that is now present.

not everything is hopeless, but some things are - quite demonstrably so. it is hopeless to have hope in what is hopeless. hope is a seed. and wasting of seed is a sin.

I often get to the heart attack of the matter.

no one wants to talk about the room in the elephant.

when you do not allow yourself to worship freely all the Good, True and Beautiful beings that exist, you end up worshiping those modern golden calves called religious institutions, and sacrificing your very intelligence to them.

I guess this is the same Laeth who has been commenting at my blog for a few months - misreading the name, I had thought he was an old penfriend called Laeeth.

It was great to read By the Waters of Mormon, and to find someone else who felt as I do about the romance, joy and inspiring qualities of Mormon theology.

And then the surprise at the end of discovering that he had been "put onto the subject" by my Speculations of a Theoretical Mormon mini-book/ blog!

That Mormon blog/ book has hardly been read by anyone, not even "bots" (my impression is that Mormons are deeply un-interested by their theology and metaphysics, regarding it as wholly subordinate to current doctrines and life-rules!) - many days there are zero page views for SoaTM; so it is very cheering to know that somebody has found it of interest; and gone on to write so well on the subject.

Certainly I shall explore "Laeth"'s work further.

@ Bruce - I confess, I put up the link to the essay in the hope that you find it pleasing. I haven't explored Laeth's blog too deeply, but he strikes me as very sympatico.

Concerning your Mormon blog, I scanned through it many years ago, and it made a positive impression. However, in retrospect, I did not give it the attention it deserves. If anything, Laeth's essay has inspired me to go back to your Mormon theology blog for a re-read.

I have not read Mormon stuff for several years - I feel that it has "done its work" for me; but the structural basis of my world-view derives from Mormon theology and metaphysics - more than from anything else.

On the other hand, I also believe it is wrong in some respects (i.e. incoherent with its own assumptions) and that is what I have been doing over recent years.

Most importantly, the perspective I got from the Fourth Gospel (understood as primary) has corrected and completed several core aspects of the Mormon would view.

yes, indeed it is me. thank you Bruce for the kind words as well as for introducing me to Mormon theology, it really was a game changer for me in more ways than one. I think I expressed this in a comment under an unrelated post of yours a few months ago, but it may have been under a different name.

I read Speculations of a Theoretical Mormon at least twice through several years ago. And I then shocked and took aback a Mormon friend who was somewhat shaken by how much I knew about Mormonism. Later on, after he got over his initial shock, he then gifted me a copy of the Mormon scriptures plus a book of Mormon theology: The Inevitable Apostasy and the Promised Restoration by Tad Callister.

I have been a regular reader for a couple of years, and a rare commenter just because I would only add tangents, as I tend to agree with what you write. so it makes me very happy that you found my own writing interesting enough to include in the blog roll. thank you again.

After playing way too many silly virtual games, as opposed to the physical ones, i shall dig into this asap. As it has become apparent to all of us in some way over the years; the rot runs deep within this world's institutions and we were foolish to ever lend authority to those who were never interested in anything but sheer power over others.

A specific line in a recent hedge article really struck me regarding the birdemic: 'but the majority of people simply had their basic humanity weaponized against them.'

Subversion at it's worst that has been long in the works through all of the random notions about 'humanity being inherently greedy/ selfish/ insert more options'. Of course the grift here is enormous and ongoing pervasively for a very long time, but repeat a lie long enough and the inperspicuous will buy into it completely.

It does seem like 'outsiders' from this global machine, and those rooted in actual discovery, genuine philosophical interest and all that, see things far more clearly. 'The God Speaks' is giving me major gnostic vibes by the way, i feel like you are hinting at some notions i've been carrying around for a while there. The 'noise' is what is being created by our opponents all the time, there are multiple parties invested in keeping us down from fully manifesting into our highest potential.

The cataclysms are unfortunately a core feature of living on this planet. as much as people want to pretend otherwise.
