Am I The Only Person . . .
. . . who isn't all that interested in what has happened in Afghanistan?
I'm happy about it. I hope it is something like the first 'retreat' from the high water mark of the system of evil that now wears the skin of the USA, how far the tide will go out in our lifetimes, remains to be seen. I suspect when the eye of Soron looks inwards it will find itself busier than ever.
@ Sasha - Retreat from Afghanistan marked the end of the Soviet Empire as well, so you're probably right about the high water mark.
The MSM is trying to paint it as another "Fall of Saigon." Except...
@ Magnus - Makes one wonder what they were really doing there for twenty years.
Julian Assange hit the nail on the head in 2011:
No - me too. Everything I have been told about the place has come from the mass media - so it can't be true and must be of malign intent. What's the point of having an opinion that is certain to be factually incorrect and to have been manipulated? Hence my lack of interest.
Its a distraction. Taliban returns to impose religious hijab on women who globohomo was already imposing medical hijab on. Durpa durpa.
Hey, man, pushing back against the official distraction is Not Cool.
No, you're not the only one who lacks much interest in that particular 'current event'....I feel the same - simply, not "all that interested"...
"Feeling badly for 'not' feeling 'more' badly over what people there are going thru, is pretty much all I've got compassion-wise..."
Actually, I am very interested in the goings-on about Afghanistan.
I thought the high water mark for the USA was in the mid 1950s. This is a new low point and probably not the lowest.
It was only ever a racket but now of course we have a moral obligation to take more migrants.
@ Mike - A friend of mine, who works as a cop, has just been deployed to the southern Hungary to guard and reinforce the border there. It doesn't take too much imagination to figure out why.
It was actually a relief to see you wrote that because no I don't care. The incompetence and the highest levels of government mean that pretty much anything we do is going to be incompetent. What's driving me crazy is everyone blaming it on the dementia patient. Every single person, no matter what side they claim to be on, who says Biden is going to have to answer to this is complicit in this giant lie that installed him in office. And then I see the articles of the women being beaten and the children being killed and for all I know it's all lies. I salute the Taliban for getting the Invaders out of their country and now apparently they're going door-to-door and killing the traitors. I hope someone's taking notes
I'm interested only because I was an officer in the U.S. armed forces for so long. The institutional failure should be astonishing, but is not after the gross civilian and military dereliction that led to 9/11. I'd left active duty a few years before, but that left me wondering if we hadn't been pointed in the wrong direction all those years.
@ Howard - Personal connections are obvious exceptions. For example, anyone who lost a family member to Afghanistan is bound to be interested in a way I cannot possibly be.
