Barfly. A mediocre film about a mediocre poet, but it did have some good lines in it, like this one. I confess, the older I get, the more I echo the sentiment expressed.

Me too. Ham on Rye was pretty good, but it's been many moons since I read it.

It's kind of shopworn but I've always liked the old saying conservatives love humans but hate humanity. The converse holds as well: liberals love humanity but hate humans.

@ Anti-Gnostic - Yes, concrete versus abstract. Big difference. I like the line in this film because he rejects hating people but admits that he seems to feel better when they're not around.

That mirrors my own perspective somewhat. I like people, but I only really like being around some of them, which is at it should be, I suppose.
