Dallas Good of The Sadies Has Died

Dallas Good was the guitarist, singer, and co-founder of The Sadies, a Canadian alt-country-rock band that never made it big but were highly respected, toured relentlessly for two decades, and collaborated with many better known artists including Neil Young, Niko Case, Kurt Vile, and Gord Downie. I have featured some of their songs on this blog: here, and here.

Dallas and I attended the same high school. He was a couple of years younger than I, which meant we did not mix in the same groups of kids. We were "nodding" acquaintances rather than friends, but I still have vivid memories of him trudging through the halls in a leather jacket and cowboy boots, his guitar case banging off his bony knees with every step he took. On the weekends I occasionally caught sight of him playing in some garage band or other.  Years later I was fortunate enough to attend some of the concerts he put on with The Sadies, the band he formed  with his older brother Travis.

Dallas died "unexpectedly" five days ago at the age of 48. The news made the mainstream media, which reported that he had died of "natural causes" due to a recently discovered "coronary ailment".

He will be missed.

My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.

In the video below, Dallas is the one who introduces the band.

I heard of a very similar situation recently. Someone I knew, not well, had a recently discovered heart issue, had a stent put in two weeks ago. He was 51 worked out, very healthy, then had a heart attack and died last week, his funeral was yesterday. The person who told me about it said his death was "untimely". I don't know whether he took the jab but I know that he lived in a world of high compliance

I'll be praying for Dallas and his family. May the Lord Jesus receive Dallas Good into eternal life.

I love The Sadies. Oak Ridges was the first song that I ever heard by them. An Ex put it on a mix CD for me many years ago. I had no idea the title was to a real place, and where you and Dallas hail from.
My condolences to his family and friends as well. Hope they can take some minor bit of comfort knowing that hos music touched some of us very deeply

@ Don - It's good to hear from someone who appreciates the Sadies.

Yes, Oak Ridges is a town about 25 miles north of Toronto. I lived there for a long time. I believe Dallas hailed from Aurora, which is a mere 3 miles north of Oak Ridges. The high school we attended is in Aurora.

Oak Ridges remains one of my favorite songs by the Sadies. It ranks right up there with Tell Her What I Said.
