It Really Is a Sabotage

I can't stand it, I know you planned it.
                                               - The Beastie Boys, Sabotage

It's sabotage. That was my first impression of the birdemic when it broke out in here in Hungary a little over two years ago:

The current global financial and economic system strikes me as sophisticated and complex, yet fragile and delicate. Everything depends on everything else. There appears to be very little margin for error. A small, seemingly insignificant problem could easily ripple across the whole network - become amplified and magnified. Set of a chain reaction. Topple dominos.

So sophisticated and complex. Yet so fragile and delicate.

And the powers that be seem quite intent on bringing it down. Now. I couldn't tell you to what degree or for what duration, but the way the hysteria is spinning out of control indicates that this might be the start of something big.

And over what? Over something that, in my uneducated opinion, should not even be making the news.

Yet there it is.

Of course, the West had been sabotaging itself for decades, so my impression was not all that revelatory. However, there was something different about the quality of the sabotage I detected back in March, 2020. Though I didn't know how things would eventually pan out, I had the sense that the beginning of the birdemic was an "all in" sort of event for the Establishment.

As far as I can tell, the global totalitarian coup of 2020 is the last hand the Establishment wants to play. They are putting up everything They have to back up their sabotage strategy, and it doesn't look like they are willing to fold.

The sabotage I suspected two years ago is now clear as day. It is spreading into everything. And it's accelerating. It won't take long for the Establishment to hit their desired objective -- near systemic collapse -- at which point They will attempt to initiate Their stop mechanism and lock whoever is still left into some sort technocratic world of perpetual surveillance, control, and slavery.

But there's a problem the Establishment hasn't considered -- the stop mechanism won't work. Instead of building back better and great resetting, the Establishment will end up helplessly watching the destruction They have unleashed continue unabated until it consumes everything, including Them. That's not wishful thinking; that's guaranteed.

Unless the Establishment stops and repents. Or unless the great mass of humanity stops and repents.

Neither seems likely, which is fine. At least we know where everyone stands.

In the meantime, I'll close the post with the same line I closed my original sabotage post from 2020:

Let them sabotage Their system -- but don't let them sabotage you.

Note added: Though the Establishment work primarily at the material level, their main objective is spiritual sabotage -- more specifically, damnation. They only have material means at their disposal to achieve this goal. We, on the other hand, are in full possession of the spiritual means they wish to sabotage. They can only sabotage us spiritually if we let Them. Something to keep in mind as the sabotage intensifies in the coming months.

Francis, I fully agree with your analysis, and in regards to this portion of your added note, the Establishment whom do work at the material level have no understanding that they are being controlled by the Powers and Principalities The Scriptures inform us are actually pulling their strings. These Establishment individuals, in my opinion, have so lost any connection to God, His Son, and the Holy Spirit they no longer have any realization of the evil they do (where have we heard that before?), as they're souls seemed to subsumed by their desire, lust for power, control. I only take comfort in the fact that I can daily cast my concerns about where the world is today into His hands. He hears our groans.

@ John - Good comment. I agree, but this "they don't know what they're doing" line of thinking does not and cannot absolve them of personal spiritual responsibility. Everyone makes choices.

The consequences of losing connection to God are devastating. I often refer to the modern mindset as despiritualized consciousness -- a form of consciousness that rejects its inherent spiritual nature and, thus, renders itself powerless against the external forces of the world.

On a side note, I visited your blog the other day. Good work! I enjoyed the post about the one-legged cardinal. I have a bit of a thing for birds myself. The stork returned to our village this week, and I am eagerly awaiting the reappearance of the cuckoos.

I think sabotage is indeed perhaps be the Main thing at work, then and now.

"We defeated the birdemic by carpet bombing world trade, transport and production, and guaranteeing hyper-inflation - and Now we will fight the Fire Nation by depth-charging what little of the world economy was left-over."

All of which is utterly invisible to the Establishment intelligentsia - whose capacity for rationalized self-deception has by-now reached a kind of black hole event horizon of baseless assertion and irrelevant moralizing frenzy - crossing a line from which there can be no return...

@ Bruce - The second paragraph of your comment not only hits the nail on the head, but also is excellent from the perspective of imagery.

The Establishment intelligentsia truly believe they can sabotage the world without -- somehow -- sabotaging themselves. They somehow believe that evil motivations can lead to good things; that people controlled by fear, cowardice, and despair can somehow be forced to create a peaceful, green, sustainable utopia. That these same people will somehow -- magically -- be happy and grateful for their misery.

The Establishment intelligentsia consider themselves to be in the master class, but they don't realize that masters are much more dependent on their slaves than slaves are on their masters.

Without masters, slaves have the chance to be free. Without slaves, masters lose their supposed "freedom" and become nothing.

And thanks to you that song has been playing in my head for 2 years. Thanks a lot.

For two years I keep asking myself- they won't let the whole thing collapse would they? And the answer is always- yes, yes they would, and they are already jockeying for position in the next system.

I've joked that I'm ready to stand on the street corner with a sign saying "Repent. The end is near". But the truth is, if the last 2 years hasn't caused them to repent, nuttin will. The end is near and I think my spirit is ready.

@ Michelle - In my defense, I've successfully resisted the urge of linking the song to my "sabotage" posts. I have done so because I didn't want the song to get stuck in anyone's head. Nevertheless, I guess I still owe you an apology.

That your spirit is ready is far more important than whether the end is near or not. When the spirit is ready, life takes on new dimensions, and the days we have remaining -- be it 30 or 30,000 -- become infinitely more rewarding and meaningful. And as long as we are here, we have things to learn.

Thanks, I'll take warning and not play the song.

Another ear-worm to avoid is the Serenade from late in recordings of the complete ballet, Prokofiev's "Romeo and Juliet". Seriously, don't look it up.

Don't say you weren't warned.

Sticking with the theme (while turning on the song) there is also the idea that nature is out to sabotage us, and we have to fix that. Some (unwitting) champions of the club have literally started looking to modern SF for advice per the future; https://www.xprize.org/about/people/scifi-council

I am vaguely familiar with quite a few people on that list, and if our current government could be replaced by these guys and gals that would probably be an improvement.. however in the grand scheme of things it would change nothing. The basic assumption of nature as indifferent, random and uncaring, and something that needs to be -fixed- is still a problem. It is still an expression of despiritualization and the beliefs attached to that.

No longer reading SF for fun except for the classics and everything by Jack Vance. We need to talk about Jack Vance sometime.

@ lea - I don't know what to make of the "nature is out to sabotage us" angle, other than to say it just appears to be another form of materialism that probably leads to transhumanist objectives.

People just can't wrap their heads around death and entropy, can they?

Interestingly enough, I've never read Jack Vance. Which of his works do you recommend?

I do not think nature is out to get us, as it is His Creation and He indeed did call it good. The problem, at least in my opinion, is, as man has used the gift of reason to unlock Creation's secrets, adding to his knowledge base year after year by utilizing his mind (reason/intelligence both God given) to make instruments of precision in order to measure and record Creation's wonders and workings, after each discovery, or unlocked secret, many men have concluded that they are gods, not realizing that the only reason they have the ability to unlock Creation's secrets is because He has allowed it. Man's hubris writ large. I think The Creator even blesses this unlocking of secrets by man. It is not nature that is out to get us, it his Creation's enemy, Satan, that is out to get us. As a side note, I find it rather interesting that there is not a word for nature in the Hebrew language back to its earliest days. It is Creation, not nature.

It's been quite a while so off the top i would say 'Eyes of the Overworld' and part two (but maybe all) of the 'Devil's Princes' series. Having said that, i realized that neither are actually prime examples of what i admire about him the most which is the effortless culture-building he brought to his books, and his boundless imagination. Lyonesse is one of his classic series too but i only read half of part 1 of that. There is a specific short story/novella ill try to track down from its dutch translation in a bundle i owned over 15 years ago that just reads like a direct transcription of what another world might look like, as if he held onto a dream and let it flow out hours or even days later. I am not sure if he was very spiritually inclined, and the 'Princes' are, reduced to the very core a revenge tale, but the point of it all was an expression of adventure and possibility, with some humor too, that i find sorely missing with most 'modern' writers in the genre. It has all become rather serious and grim for the most part, quite technology focused with much less attention for civilizations and their cultures. I don't think SF is the only aspect of (our) society suffering from that, but will digress here.

@ Anthony - Compared to the Beastie Boys, the Serenade Matinale in R & J (that's the one, I hope) wasn't that bad at all -- though I can certainly appreciate the ear-worm quality of the piece. To me, it sounded like a piece that should have been written to accompany mice scampering about the house.

With that charming imagery in mind, it's not so bad. It was the trumpets that bugged me. Prokofiev makes better use of them in the "Dance With Mandolins".
