Very few things irritate and repulse me as much as the sight of a tattooed man with his arms crossed.

And don't even get me started on tattoed women with their arms crossed . . .

Is there a pun here that I'm not clever enough to get? Or is it only that you've been running into a lot of cross armed tattoed folks?

@ Luke - Crossing one's arms is a known defensive posture indicating anxiety, discomfort, insecurity, etc., yet tattoos are marketed as a sign of strength, individuality, courage, rebelliousness, etc.

The combination of the two are now "marketed" as a symbol of toughness. I find the combination unbearable.

@ Otto - Funny thing, Mr. Clean popped into my mind as a counter-example while I was writing my previous comment, but he lacks tattoos, so he doesn't count. Come to think of it, he does have an earing though . . . hmmm.

With that in mind, I suppose crossed arms can also signify resistance and hostility toward someone or to something being communicated. Still doesn't do much too ease my irritation.

Nearly all photos of doctors these days show them with their arms crossed. It's like a memo went out and told them all to pose like this. I can't stand it. Partly because of the off putting and defensive nature of the pose, but also because they all do the same pose, with the same expression. I can't stand group think.

I usually see photos like these along with articles highlighting up and coming business owners or chefs. I’ll bet that guy makes some great vegan chocolate.
