Now, watch what happens when you place a mirror vertically up the middle of the painting and reflect the left side back upon itself:

Now do the same for the right side and you get . . .

Ok well now strange turtle men are going to haunt my dreams.
The first reflected image looks like an image of a sad man to me, not a good man.

If I take in the whole image and focus more on his hands I can get that impression.
If I focus on his eyes I see sadness, and if I focus on his face I see a snake on his brow and that looks evil.
If I compare the first and second reflections, the second looks dramatically evil, and the first looks uncertain. Maybe the best I could say is it appears as a Merlin type from That Hideous Strength, or as Gandalf and Aragorn sometimes appear to the hobbits, not necessarily evil but strange and dangerous. Possibly a good person, but not showing that in the moment.
