The Narrative Has Already Collapsed; We Just Don't See It

I get the sense many of us are waiting for the big narrative implosion - that Götterdammerung supernova that will occur when the fiery ball of lies can no longer withstand the pressure of truth and, thus, begin to cave in on itself like an imploding star.

I imagine many of us wake up and scan the headlines looking for signs of a much needed and sorely overdue disintegration of the unholy collection of stories that has enslaved the world.

Every now and then we perceive a spark that could send the whole shabby affair up in flames. We wait breathlessly for the spark to catch, for the waves of fire it will surely ignite in an endless sea of minds and hearts.

And we lower our heads in disappointment when the spark grows cold or is dutifully extinguished by the determined heel of some storyteller's boot.

Yet the next day we awaken with renewed hope. Perhaps today will be the day. Or tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow. On bad days, we question the Will of God and wonder why He allows the travesty to drag on, seemingly endlessly. He could bring an end it all in a blink of an eye . . . why doesn't He? We lower our eyes to the headlines once more and continue searching for sparks.

And through all of this we miss the obvious - the narrative has already collapsed. Perhaps not at the collective level, perhaps not en masse, but certainly at the level of the individual - within the hearts of individuals scattered throughout the world. In this sense, God has already brought an end to it all and often in the blink of an eye.

From the seemingly narrow confines of our individual lives, the collapsed narrative seems trivial, almost meaningless. Our personal awareness does not appear to affect anything, let alone exert any force on the ever expanding ball of superheated lies engulfing the world.

Rather than provide reprieve, the collapsed narrative becomes a burden. It drives us into proverbial self-exile and distances us from others. We find it increasingly impossible to play along, and we find it even harder to find people with whom we can share truth.

At times, we might even wish we could go back to believing the narrative again, but we know we cannot. We cannot un-see what we have seen. We cannot un-think what we are thinking. We cannot un-discern what we have discerned.

So with a sigh, we return to headlines and concentrate our hopes on the next spark we detect. Surely, this will be it, we whisper the moment a much-awaited glint catches our eye. This will be the thing that brings it all down. It is too undeniable. Too true. Too real. Even the blind will see it. Even the brainless will understand . . .

What we don't get is that we don't need the blind to see it or the brainless to understand it. We don't need something to bring it all down because the very fact we don't believe it has already brought it all down.

The narrative is not Reality, it is merely an eclipse of Reality. A shadow cast over Reality does not negate Reality, nor does it replace Reality anymore than the shadow of the moon replaces the sun during a solar eclipse. The sun appears obliterated, but it remains behind the moon, shining brightly despite everything.

When the narrative collapses within us individually, not only are we are able to see the sun behind the shadow, but we become a little sun on the opposite side of the shadow shining up through the murk.

We become beacons of light - pinpoints of Reality poking holes in the narrative shroud. To those who oppose God and Creation, each tiny hole in the narrative is a sun unto itself, and it burns through all the lies and deceits. Each pinpoint is a painful reminder that Reality is still there behind it all, despite everything. Even worse, it is a painful reminder that Reality is still there in front of it all because a single individual grounded in Reality contains the entirety of Reality within himself or herself.

And one day Reality will break through once and for all, but this is no less significant than Reality breaking through once and for one today.

Note added: I apologize for the mixed metaphors; I wrote this during an inspired whim.

Good one.
So true.
Where I can without being immediately "terminated" by the overlords who control my ability to put food on the table, I more and more just tell it as I see it.
As today, at a building with some co-workres. Or last night, at a restaurant where I ran into someone. And most of the people I reveail my spark of truth to agree with me!
And some of them (not all) tell some of their own truth.
Some seem afraid and troubled by the talk of the truth, and nod in assent begrudgingly, or as though someone might observe their assent. yet each of these little talks is a communion of souls who haven't buckled, haven't totally given in to evil. And daring to speak may be contagious and bracing.

@ Todd - Good to hear. In general, it seems people spoke more openly in the past or, at the very least, were more sincere about their observations when they shared them with others.

Francis, I think we are both old enough to remember a time when people in general just told it as they saw it. Neighbors and friends could be left or right, union and non-union, Baptist or Catholic, and still just get along. They might even scream or yell a bit, or be a bit crude, but in general. social cohesion was mainly geographical: you lived with these people so you had to get along. And you could agree to disagree. And you were not afraid of some Eye of Sauron out there that might look upon you disapprovingly. That was just for those poor suckers in the USSR! That could never happen here. And alas, it has happened here. We live in a "soft" totalitarianism that is much more pervasive and hard-to-escape. Even fewer willing to be dissidents or bad-thinkers. The system wants to control our thoughts. I dont think that it can - whatever the alarmists talking about nanotech in the pecks say. That said, drugs and EMF and tech CAN affect our affect/moods. And that alone is very dangerous. Social media leads to huge amounts of depression, etc. I want back in the real world, which is part of my discipline in telling people what I think.

Maybe God will send a solar storm to wipe out all electronic communication devices. That would certainly do it!

@ Epi - Something of the sort may be coming, but I have a bad feeling God won't be the one behind it.

That was uplifting and poetic, thanks. I am also taking it as a bit of direction in the sense of sifting through the news as much as i certainly sometimes do, becomes a wasted effort at some point. Looking for truth to be ´fortified´ by the newest factoid and report is playing ´their game´. Getting caught up in details that just aren´t really relevant, and in the narrative that follows. So as one of my favorite game characters says ´no more distractions´.

Yes. That puts it well.

Amen, Lea. I must "shake off the dust" of the news and the endless distractions. It's becoming clear (to me at least!) that the distraction of the news and endless emergencies is actually part of the demonic plan to keep us from going in the right direction.

Good article, sir. The Good Book tells us we must be the: Salt and Light" of the world. While it is my duty as a Christian to obey that command and practice the Golden Rule, I also must not allow my head to be in the clouds, like a lot of spiritual clock watchers.
The hysterical reaction by the forces of darkness over the Rittenhouse verdict and the slaughter of innocents in Waukesha in more than enough to convince me we are all Boers, now. Plan accordingly. Bleib ubrig.

I'm also guilty of watching expectantly for some big, dramatic event that will illuminate the scene from horizon to horizon, only to slump dejectedly that nothing seems to be happening after all. I tell myself it will be like the climax of 'Force 10 to Navarone', where after all the planning and derring-do, the bomb goes off under the dam and... it doesn't work! Or so it seems. As the bomb expert says, "You can't expect an enormous volcano from 3 tiny bags of explosives. You have to let Nature take her course. Give it time; it'll work." And true enough, the little disruption, under the surface, in the right place, proves enough to start a chain reaction that eventually does result in the entire dam collapsing.

Excellent observation, and obviously true. Witness the USSR and it's bloc satellites, circa 1990's. The people there had had enough of all the lies and liars, the groundswell of freedom coming from the average person. If we get what Epithemeus wants, we might get half the planet dead, or more. The world has become dependent on electricity. What's that Big Thing coming? Who knows? My idea is a colossal screw up by the TPTB, trying to use their world domination plan, but prematurely hitting the gas pedal. I note that the worse disasters to ever hit the human race have all been human wrought. The Plandemic is evidence enough of that.

I don't want to starve to death, but the elimination of all mass media communications and electronic entertainment would certainly "break the spell."

Thoroughly inspiring and comforting! Have I ever worried about my neighbor knowing a truth such as 2 + 2 = 4? Of course not. It's enough that I know and that God knows that I know.

Great post. It’s like you’re in my
House when I wake up. Everyday
I wait for the day everyone else catches on.
Its somewhat depressing to realize how ignorant
most are. I never had too much faith in others but
What little I had has been beaten out of me.
Thank you
